Selected nine grantees made a virtual research proposal presentation

Nine Masters level students selected for the grant made a virtual proposal presentation successfully on 27 June 2021 held under the 12th CREEW Research Program (2020/2021).
The research proposals presented by the grantees were on assessment of hydrogeochemical and stable water isotopes of shallow and deep groundwater in Kathmandu valley; assessment of groundwater recharge potential in northern part of Kathmandu valley; sustainability of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in rural high mountain under climatic stress in Nepal; floating treatment wetlands for municipal wastewater treatment; impact assessment of climate change on future water availability and possible effects on crop yield on Narayani basin based on CMIP6 model outputs; projected changes in droughts characteristics in Narayani River Basin; hydro-geological study and status identification of springs; cumulative impact assessment of multiple hydropower projects in Modi river watershed; and groundwater potential mapping, characterization and discretization of factors for groundwater occurrence in Dudhauli, Sindhuli.
Welcoming the participants, Dr. Dhiraj Pradhanang President of CREEW provided the historical overview of the CREEW Grant Program and appreciated that CREEW could successfully continue the program annualy since 2008.
Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha, founder and advisor to the CREEW Grant Program moderated the proposal presentation session. Prof. Dr. Vishnu Pandey IoE/TU, Prof. Dr. Sadhana Pradhanang CDES/TU, Assoc. Prof. Udhab Khadka CDES/TU, Assoc. Prof. Iswar Man Amatya IoE/TU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinesh Pathak CDG/TU, and other experts and professionals from other research organizations and universities, and CREEW Executive Board members and CREEW staffs participated and interacted with the grantees and provided comments and suggestion to bring more clarity to the presented research proposals.
The program was attended by 28 participants. CREEW-Research Grant Program is financially supported by Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) Japan since 2008.
