Training Program on GIS-based Flood Modelling using HEC-RAS

A training program on GIS-based Flood Modeling using HEC-RAS was concluded successfully on 6 April 2016. Commencing on 3 April 2016, the 4-day program was jointly organized by Center of Research for Environment, Energy and Water (CREEW) and Water Modeling Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (WMS). Held at ICTC building, IOE, Pulchowk, the training was specially focused to enhance the capacity building of researchers and professionals. Invited speaker Dr. Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Chairman, Budhigandaki Hydroelectric project Development Committee, officially opened the training program highlighting the importance of water resources planning on development of the country.

The nine participants from Department of Irrigation, Government of Nepal, Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-Nepal (ISET-Nepal), UNDP, CREEW and WMS got an opportunity to learn about GIS tool, HEC_RAS and HEC-GeoRAS software for flood modeling. A total of 30 hours course duration training was conducted by resource persons Dr. Khada Nanda Dulal, and Er. Utsav Bhattarai. A certificate of completion was distributed to the participants of training on the final day of the program.
