Selected grantees of the 10th CREEW Research Grant program present their proposal

CREEW in collaboration with Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) Japan has been organizing research grant program for the last 10 years. CREEW held its 10th research grant proposal program on March 16, 2019, Saturday at Chiyapaan Organic Tea Lounge, Baluwatar, Kathmandu. The program began with welcome note and brief introduction of CREEW by Dr. Rabin Malla, Executive Director, CREEW.
In this 10th Research Grant program, CREEW is supporting 8 masters’ course students. They are Ms. Anisha Maharjan and Ms. Sirjana Bhatta from Golden Gate International College, Ms. Babita Ghimire from Central Department of Botany (TU), Mr. Mahadev Singh Saud and Mr. Sanjay Mahat from Institute of Engineering Pulchowk Campus (IoE/ TU), Ms. Rachana Jha from Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES/TU) and Mr. Deepak Acharya and Mr. Ram Chandra Paudel from Pashchimanchal Campus, Institute of Engineering (IoE/TU) Pokhara.
The research proposal were related to hydrological modelling, flood plain mapping, modelling and experimental investigation for extraction of water from fog, hydrogenotrophic- denitrification efficiency in single and series reactors, emission estimation from open burning of solid waste and diversity and distribution patterns of freshwater macro-invertebrates. All grantees presented their proposal wonderfully with clear presentation slides and keeping the time.
CREEW experts and advisors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha, from Asian Institute of Technology Thailand (AIT) and CREEW- RGP advisor, Er. Gautam Raj Karnikar, CREEW- Fellow, Er. Utsav Bhattarai, General Secretary of CREEW, Dr. Rabin Malla, Executive Director of CREEW, Dr. Shankar Shrestha and Dr. Salina Shrestha, executive members of CREEW provided valuable inputs and suggestion to all the grantees. The grantees were asked to revise the proposal by incorporating the feedback from the experts. Mr. Upendra Shahi Admin and Account Officer oriented the grantees about the grant agreement and financial matters to take care of.
Er. Utsav Bhattarai, General Secretary of CREEW expressed vote of thanks and concluded the program.
