The 11th CREEW Research Grantees presented their Proposal
CREEW awarded research grant to 10 outstanding research ideas of postgraduate scholars from various universities/institutions namely Mr. Divakar Thapaliya from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, Ms. Manisha Ghimire, Md. Asif Alam, Ms. Elina Pauadel, Ms. Upama Tamla (Rai) and Ms. Shushila Kandel from Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES), Tribhuvan University, Mr. Sumin Maharjan from Khowpa College, Tribhuvan University, Ms. Sanishya Shrestha from the School of Environmental Science and Management (SchEMS), Pokhara University, Ms. Nisha Pokharel from Western Region Campus (WRC), Institute of Engineering (IoE), Tribhuvan University and Mr. Prashesh Pote Shrestha from Kathmandu University. The 11th CREEW Research Grant Program incubated researches in the area of land subsidence, groundwater quality, pesticide residues, waste water treatment, hydropower potential assessment, environmental flow, Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) and municipal solid waste.
CREEW experts and advisors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha, from AIT along with CREEW members namely Mr. Dhiraj Pradhananga, President, Er. Utsav Bhattarai, Vice President, Dr. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, Executive Member, Er. Gautam Raj Karnikar, CREEW-Fellow, Dr. Rabin Malla, Executive Director (CREEW), Dr. Shankar Shrestha, Treasurer and Dr. Salina Shrestha provided valuable inputs and suggestion to all the grantees. In addition, grantee’s supervisors namely Prof. Dr. Sadhana Pradhanang from CDES, Mr. Ram Charitra Sah from Khowpa College and Mr. Ajay Mathema from SchEMS attended the program and provided their valuable feedbacks. The grantees were asked to revise the proposal by incorporating the suggestion/advice from the experts. Finally, Er. Utsav Bhattarai, Vice President of CREEW expressed vote of thanks and concluded the program.
The 11th CREEW Research Grant Program was held on December 21, 2019 at Hotel-Shangri-La, Lazimpat, Kathmandu. The program was chaired by Dr. Sangam Shrestha, CREEW Research Grant Program Advisor and moderated by Er. Pratik Singh Thakuri, Research and Project Officer, CREEW.
